Peach Growers See 40%+ Yield Increase with Organic Biostimulant

April 3, 20266 min read

Stone Fruit Growers Face Mounting Pressure

Peach growers across North America face a challenging economic environment. Rising input costs, labor shortages, and increasingly unpredictable weather patterns mean that maximizing yield from every tree is more important than ever. At the same time, consumer demand for organic and sustainably grown stone fruit continues to climb.

Trial Design and Results

In 2024 and 2025, independent field trials were conducted in commercial peach orchards in Ontario's Niagara region. The trial design was straightforward: treated rows received GrowMás biostimulant applications at four key growth stages, while adjacent control rows received standard orchard management without biostimulant.

The results were striking. Treated trees produced over 40% more marketable fruit by weight compared to untreated controls. Fruit size distribution also shifted favorably, with a higher percentage of fruit in premium size categories.

Why Peaches Respond So Well

Stone fruits like peaches are particularly responsive to biostimulant treatment for several reasons:

  • High nutrient demand: Peach trees have intense nutrient requirements during the rapid fruit growth phase (Stage III). Enhanced nutrient uptake during this period translates directly to larger fruit.
  • Stress sensitivity: Peaches are sensitive to drought and heat stress. Biostimulants that improve root development help trees maintain water and nutrient access during critical periods.
  • Short harvest window: With a compressed harvest period, any improvement in fruit set and retention has an outsized impact on total yield.

Application Protocol for Peaches

The recommended application schedule for peaches follows the tree's natural growth cycle:

  • Application 1: Pink bud stage
  • Application 2: Petal fall
  • Application 3: Pit hardening (Stage II)
  • Application 4: Final swell (Stage III)

Economic Impact

At current wholesale peach prices, a 40% yield increase on a 10-acre orchard represents a significant return on the cost of biostimulant treatment. The economics become even more favorable for organic operations, where premium pricing amplifies the value of each additional bushel.
